Introduction to T4A Business Listings
Tracks4Africa is hosting businesses as Points of Interests on different platforms. Your business can be made visible to thousands of Google Earth users around the world, and to hundreds of avid travelers…
Tracks4Africa is in the business of creating quality data and information that can be used for navigation in Africa and more specifically remote parts of Africa. Our products are being built at a level of spatial accuracy which allows for the creation of GPS and other electronic maps. Tracks4Africa publish its data and information on various platforms including GPS maps, paper maps and the Google Earth geo-browser.
Tracks4Africa’s typical users would be self-drive tourists and adventure travellers. Our products are designed to offer this market unequalled quality and confidence in the planning and execution of their journeys through Africa.
The Google partnership has been expanded to allow for Tracks4Africa to become an enhanced content partner. This puts Tracks4Africa in a position to become a conduit for local business to the Google Services platforms such as Google Earth, Google Maps and Google.com. This line of business does not necessarily only cater for the typical Tracks4Africa user and could cover a wide variety of users from business travellers, urban tourists, adventure travellers to people seeking out the most remote parts of our continent.
T4A Platforms hosting Business Listings
T4A GPS Maps: Your business will be displayed as a POI* (Point Of Interest) on our GPS data mapset, which is sold in our T4A CD in various retail outlets. This is compatible with Garmin GPS receivers.This is one of our previous CD releases, version 7.10, cd cover.
T4A Google Earth Lite: Your business can be indicated as a POI* on the T4A Google Earth ’More’ layer.
This can be regarded as a type of Gallery view of POI’s on Google Earth.
The following information on your business can be published in the KML bubble that opens on Google Earth when a POI* is double-clicked: business name (i.e. NO contact details, email or website will be displayed here). The user’s click will however be referred to our http://www.padkos.co.za website, where further information on your establishment will be displayed, and the user can then clilck onto your website, if available, or email, phone or fax you.
Note: Data content displayed on this Google Earth layer is not directly searchable in Google Earth, Google Maps or Google.com.
T4A Google Commercial Listings Platform:
Tracks4Africa Content partnership with Google Earth enables us to publish our data content on different layers within Google Earth.
The Google Commercial Listings version enables us to publish our data content on a more commercial level within Google (ie. The Standard layer). All the Google Services are made available on this platform:
The geo-browsers, Google Earth and Google Maps, Google.com (the main search website), and Google Mobile.
The T4A data content is therefore searchable/viewable in all these Google Services.
For POI’s this means marketing visibility. This will drive traffic from Google Earth to the business.
Padkos:
Tracks4africa has launched a new website, called www.padkos.co.za.
Every place on our T4A GPS Maps enjoys a landing page on Padkos.co.za. We have more than 60 000 points of interest varying from attractions to road markers.
When looking at the way the Internet is developing, people are all looking for user generated content. Virtual communities all over the web is springing up and sharing their experiences. At Padkos.co.za we provide a space where the traveling community can share content such as descriptions, reviews and photo’s about the places they have visited. In essence every single point on our map is generated in this way and this gives the data its unique advantage over normal commercial listings.
If you find a place on Padkos.co.za you can be assured that you will be able to navigate to it using T4A GPS Maps.
Currently, this is all a free service.
